Is it really
possible for me to know the One who created me? Does He want
to have a relationship with me so that I can talk to Him and share
everything with Him, knowing that He will hear me, guide me, and
change me for the better?
Jesus prayed, "Now this is
eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus
Christ, whom you have sent." (John 17:3) The new
life that God offers to us through Jesus really amounts to a life of
knowing God.
Well, how does that
happen? Do you just start making friends with God like with
anyone else? Actually, the Bible describes all of us as
enemies of God and people who deserve His judgment. Yet in a
passage that talks about how we can become the people who God calls
His own, the Bible also says, "What if God, choosing to show his
wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects
of his wrath--prepared for destruction? What if he did this to
make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom
he prepared in advance for glory?" (Romans 9:22-23)
